Apprentice Spotlight: Jordan Carroll
Jordan is on his second year as an apprentice with Local 701. He enjoys operating cranes, excavators, backhoes, and haul trucks.

Why join 701’s apprenticeship?
“You're gonna learn the trade from the ground up, and it's gonna give you the opportunity to really explore equipment operating as a whole … There's a beauty in that where you can get put on a bunch of different jobs that open you up to different pathways for the trade.”

Why go union instead of non-union?
“I worked at non-union construction for a large period of my life after I got out of the Marine Corps, and I was taken advantage of. I did not enjoy that. I didn't have any representation. I didn't have anybody that could fight for my wages that could protect me in situations where I was being told to do things that were unsafe. Being in the union, that was the large appeal to me, to have that representation and that unity.”
