Apprentice Spotlight: Josue Rodriguez

Josue is on his second year as an apprentice with Local 701. He enjoys operating cranes and working as an oiler.

How have you benefitted from this apprenticeship?

“Being able to get my hands on all different types of cranes … being able to run them gets me well-rounded as an operator, as an oilier, and just as a partner of 701. There are a lot of people with a lot of operating experience, but the fine-tuning that they do here will prepare you for the field.”

Why go union instead of non-union?

“They’ve definitely got your back. On certain occasions, in certain situations a non-union might not. They might not be there when you really need them, but here with 701, they really will be there.”
